Information

Galvanised Unistrut, also known as hot-dipped galvanised unistrut or galvanised unistrut channel, are hot-rolled carbon “U” shaped steel with inside radius corners that has been hot dipped in a zinc rich galvanizing process. Galvanised unistrut is a lower cost alternative to stainless steel to protect against rust for many years, while maintaining comparable strength with a durable hard surface coating. Galvanised unistruts are commonly used as support systems for mechanical, electrical and plumbing installations. Galvanised unistrut is available in either slotted or plain, to accommodate for a range of applications.

Applications

Uses of galvanised unistrut include agricultural implements, industrial, transportation equipment, construction, general fabrication, electrical, plumbing, heavy machinery, automotive industry, manufacturing and structural support applications.

Types

There are two common types of galvanised unistrut, hot-dip galvanising and pre-galvanising. For hot-dip galvanising, the steel surface is dipped in molten pure zinc. Other the other hand for zinc coating or pre-galvanising, steel strip from a coil is fed through a continuous zinc coater that cleans, fluxes and coats the steel with molten zinc. The steel is then recoiled after cooling. This time-tested coating is good for both indoor and outdoor applications.

Types	Description
Hot-Dip Galvanising	Application of a zinc coating by immersing steel in a molten pool of zinc. Alloy layers such as zinc oxide and zinc carbonate, are formed on the primary metal through reaction with the surrounding atmosphere to form a protect coating.
Pre-Galvanising	Rolling sheet metal through a cleaning agent to quickly prime material for galvanising. The metal is passed through a pool of molten liquid zinc and is instantly recoiled.
Cold Galvanising	Application of zinc-rich paint to the surface of steel metal to protect it from corrosion.
